Sub:- Frequent  power cuts in Vidyanagar,Karimnagar- Reg

Sir

I would like to bring the issue of frequent power cuts in our locality to the attention of the authorities concerned through your newspaper. The erratic power supply is causing us a lot of inconvenience. People, especially senior citizens, have to face a lot of problems as the temperatures are soaring high, crossing 45 degrees. Exams are around the corner. Students have to burn the midnight oil to pass the exams. Frequent power cuts or irregular power supply will have an impact on their studies.

We, residents of Vidyanagar, took the issue to the electricity officials umpteen times, but all our efforts were in vain.

Therefore, I request that you  take the necessary action in this regard.

Yours faithfully

Ch.Samanvai

I am a resident of SR Colony Road No.6 , Karimnagar. I would like to bring to your kind notice the miserable condition of the road. The Road No.6 is in a bad condition. It is one of the busiest roads in the area. The road is full of potholes, and that condition has led to many accidents. This is rainy season, and the road has been submerged due to incessant rains last week. It becomes difficult to notice those potholes. Last week, a motorcyclist fell into the pothole and got injured.

So I would like to draw the attention of the authorities to the problem and request that they take the necessary action

Grammar - Diary Writing models.

1)Write about your experiences and feelings on the first day of your college in your diary.

4 December 2021

Dear Diary,

I got up early in the morning and had a delicious breakfast with a wonderful cup of coffee, then went to the college. I am very happy because I got an admission in SRR Government Degree College, one of the best degree colleges in Telangana. I was so excited on my first day in college. On reaching college, the help desk directed me to my classroom. As it was the first day, the lecturer conducted an ice breaking session. The principal of the college gave an excellent presentation on students' achievements in academics and sports. I made new friends in the class and returned home in the evening with good memories.

Q.2)Today is your birthday. You received an birthday gift from your father. Record your feelings in Diary

05 December 2021

Dear Diary,

Today is my 18th birthday, so I went to temple with my mother to perform pooja. When I returned home from temple, my father presented me APJ Abdul Kalam's autobiography as a birthday gift. I was so happy to receive the book as a birthday gift, as I has wanted to read Kalam's autobiography since my school days. It was one of the memorable days of my life.

S.Sreehitha.

Q.3). You visited Birla planetarium Hyderabad as a part of an educational tour. Make a diary entry recording your feelings.

3 January 2022

Dear Diary,

We visited the Birla planetarium in Hyderabad yesterday. It was a great experience as it was my first visit to Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana. We boarded the bus at 8 o'clock in the morning and had our breakfast at a dhaba on the highway. We had a lot of fun in the bus, singing songs and playing jokes.

We reached the planetarium at 11 a.m. and bought tickets for the planetarium space show and science museum. The space show is in English and regional languages and is about the solar system and comets. It was very informative. Our physics lecturer gave more information on the exhibits, such as PSLV, GSLV, and GSLV-, in the science museum. It was a great learning experience for us. We can enrich our knowledge of science and technology with these kinds of educational tours.

The First Woman Teacher of India: Savitri Bai Phule

The First Woman Teacher of India: Savitri Bai Phule

Satavahana University Kari- Degree Semester 5-English- 2021-22 onwards-Unit 3

SRR Govt.College Karimnagar BCA Sem 2

englishlanguage-lit.blogspot.com

Q.1Savitribai Phule was a first-generation Indian feminist. Elucidate.

Q.2. Explain how Savitribai faced hardships in her quest to educate girls?

Q.#. How did Savitribai achieve her goal in life.? Elaborate.

This essay gives an insight into the inspirational life of Savitri Bhai Phule, who worked tirelessly for the education of girls and women's rights, especially those of lower castes. She is an educationist, feminist, social reformer, writer, and poet. India recognizes her as the first female teacher. She was married to Jyotirao Phule at the age of nine. Jyotirao Phule, a social reformer, writer, and activist, supported Savitribai's mission of educating girls. She advocated for widow remarriages and fought against child marriages and Sati practices.

She finished elementary school at home with help from her husband, Jyotirao Phule. After completing her formal education, she enrolled in teacher training courses and became the first female teacher in India.

She first taught girls at Maharwada in Pune, then started a school at Bhidiwada, along with Jyotirao and Sugunabai. They started three schools, adopting a teaching methodology that was different from the government schools. The growing popularity of girls' schools run by Phule made the Brahmin community angry. Despite threats and attacks from the upper castes, she continued her efforts to uplift women.

The Phule couple established two educational trusts, the Native Female School Pune and the Society for Promoting the Education of Mahars, Mangs, and Etceteras, bringing all schools under these trusts. Fatima Sheikh later headed these schools. Apart from the schools, Savitribai established Balhatya Pratibandhak Griha, a home for infanticide prevention for pregnant rape victims. She published Kavya Phule, Bhavan Kaashi Subodh Ratnakar, and Go Get Education, a poem encouraging oppressed classes to overcome hurdles with the help of education. As a feminist, she established the Mahila Seva Mandal to create awareness among women about their rights.

She worked at her adopted son Yashwant's clinic, where she risked her life to assist those afflicted with the plague. She attempted to save Pandurang Babaji Gaekwad’s son by carrying him on her back to the clinic. As a result, she contracted the dreadful virus and died of the bubonic plague on March 10, 1897.

The University of Pune was renamed as the Savitribai Phule Pune University. In honor of Savitribai, the Indian government released a postal stamp. She will be remembered forever for her selfless service to poor women's education and empowerment.

englishlanguage-lit.blogspot.com

Short Answer Questions

1) How did Savitribai Phule strive for the emancipation of women?

She advocated for women's rights, widow remarriage, and fought against child marriages. In 1848, Savitribai and Jyotirao Phule founded the first school for girls and women in Bhidewada, Pune (Maharashtra). They were successful in establishing three schools with approximately 150 students in Pune by the end of 1851. She established 18 schools for girls and Balhatya Pratibandhak Griha, a home for the prevention of infanticide for pregnant rape victims. Fatima Sheikh , a colleague of Savitribai, later succeeded and headed these schools. She was one of the first Muslim teachers of modern India.

The Phule couple established two educational trusts, the Native Female School Pune and the Society for Promoting the Education of Mahars, Mangs, and Etceteras, bringing all schools under these trusts.

2) What did Savitribai do for the cause of young widows and forlorn children?

She established a home  ( Balhatya Pratibndhak Griha ) to prevent infanticide among pregnant rape victims, ensuring safe deliveries and saving the lives of bereaved children. In the 19th century, child marriage was prevalent, leading to many young girls becoming widows even before reaching puberty. She advocated for widow remarriage through this home.

3) What did you learn about Savitri Bai Phule from unfortunate events that led to her death?

Ans: She dedicated her life to the empowerment and upliftment of socially backward women. Even the fear of death did not deter her spirit. Though plague is a dreadful disease, she continued to serve people till her death.

My vision for India speech by Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam summary and analysis

 Satavahana University Karimnagar- Degree Semester 5-English- 2021-22 onwards-Unit 2

SRR Govt. College Karimnagar BCA Sem 2

My Vision for India

Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (A.P.J. Abdul Kalam) was an Indian scientist who was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, India. From 2002 to 2007, he served as the 11th President of India. He was a key figure in the development of India's rocket and nuclear weapons programmes. He is popularly known as "The Missile Man of India." Kalam graduated from the Madras Institute of Technology with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in 1958. In 1969, he moved to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He made significant contributions to the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear experiments.

Q.1.Give an account of three visions of Dr.Kalam for India and how they might be achieved according to him?

Q.2.What are the views of Dr.Kalam about strengthening our motherland?

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam delivered the well-known speech "My Vision for India" to the students of IIT Hyderabad in 2011. He shared his three clear visions for India, as well as four career milestones. His three visions are Freedom, development, and Strength.

First vison: He strongly believes that India developed its first vision of freedom in 1857, during the first war of independence. He states that freedom is inherent in our country. Though many rulers from different parts of the world invaded and looted India, we Indians never attacked or grabbed others' territory.

His second vision for India is development. He says it is high time to consider ourselves a developed nation. Despite India's high GDP growth rate and low poverty rate, we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a developed nation.

His third vision is of India's strength. He believes that strength deserves greater respect in today's world, so India must be strong both militarily and economically.

Dr. KKalam felt lucky to work with eminent scientists such as Dr.Vikram Sarabhai,Prof.Satish Dhawan, and Dr.Brahma Prakash.

According to Dr.Kalam, what were the four milestones of his career?

Four Milestones in Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam career.

First Milestone: Dr. Kalam rendered his services to ISRO as a project director for India's first SLV-3.

Second, he joined DRDO and was a part of the missile programme Agni in 1994.

Third, his participation in the nuclear tests on May 11 and 13, 1998, along with his team, made him feel proud.

Fourth bliss: On request of an orthopedic surgeon from NIMS, Hyderabad, Kalam's team made Floor Reaction Orthosis 300-gram calipers to lessen the burden on physically disabled children.

Media's Obsession with Bad News: Kalam criticises Indian media for focusing on bad news and he also questions Indians' interest in reading negative news about death and crime. He gives an example of an Israeli newspaper that gives prominence to the inspiring news of a Jewish man on the front page instead of Hamas bombings.

Obsession with foreign things:

He poses another question about our obsession with foreign things. We must proclaim to ourselves that India is a highly developed nation. We don't need foreign things or technology, as we are self-reliant.

Indians must comply with the system in foreign countries.

Dr.Kalam says that Indians, when they are in foreign countries, comply with the rules and regulations, whereas the same people in India do not conform to the rules.

Blaming the government.

Indians expect the government to do everything for us and blame authorities for their inefficiency. Instead of expecting much from the government, we should contribute to society. We make loud drawing room protestations on dowry, women, and girl child issues, but we do the opposite at  home.

We wait for someone to do a miracle; if it doesn't happen, we run to foreign countries like America, England, and the Gulf. When war breaks out in the Gulf, we demand that the Indian government take us back home.

Dr.Kalam appeals to us to do what India needs from us and wraps up his speech with J.F. Kennedy's inspirational quote..

Short Questions

1. What were the three visions of Dr Kalam for India?

His three visions were freedom, development, and strength. He strongly believes that India developed the first vision of freedom in 1857, during the first war of independence. He states that freedom is inherent in our country. His second vision for India is development. He says it is high time to consider ourselves a developed nation. His third vision is the strength of India. He believes that strength commands greater respect in today's world, so India must be strong both militarily and economically.

2. According to doctor,Kalam what were the four milestones of his career?

The first milestone was working as the project director for India's first satellite launch vehicle, SLV-3. He worked for twenty years at ISRO. Second milestone was working in DRDO for Agni mission in 1994.He joined DRDO after serving at ISRO. The third milestone is participating in a nuclear test with his team on May 11th and 13th, 1998. He got an opportunity to work with his team on the nuclear tests and proved to the world that India can make nuclear weapons. Manufacturing floor reaction Orthosis with 300-gram callipers made of a light material called carbon-carbon for physically disabled children was his fourth bliss. The parents of disabled children moved to tears with happiness for reducing the 3 kg weight to 300 gm load on their legs.

3. What was Dr. Kalam's fourth bliss?

On request of an orthopedic surgeon from NIMS, Hyderabad,Kalam's team made Floor reaction Orthosis 300 gms calipers to lessen the burden of physically disabled children. The parents of disabled children moved to tears with happiness for reducing the 3 kg weight to 300 gm load on their legs.

Lispeth by Rudyard Kipling summary and analysis

SATAVAHANA/OU/KU/TU-Telangana State

MA ENGLISH -SEMESTER 2- PAPER III-FICTION-UNIT- V - Short stories

SRR Govt.Arts & Science College Karimnagar

Rudyard Kipling, a poet, novelist, short story writer and journalist, was born on December 30, 1865 in Bombay of British India. His famous works are Kim(1901), Jungle Book,  poems -If , White man burden -the United States and the Philippine Islands,  To The City Of Bombay. Kipling was awarded the Nobel prize for literature in the year 1899.He closely observed Colonial rule and British military cantonments as a journalist. He depicted a young British soldier's life in the short story 'Thrown away'.

The present  story Lispeth is taken from his famous anthology of 40 short stories" Plain Tales from the Hills". Critics accuse Kipling as a supporter of British imperialism.

englishlanguage-lit.blogspot.com

Rajesh Kumar

Lispeth (1886) is the story of an Indian native girl, narrated in the third person and set in British India. She is the daughter of Sonoo and Jadeh, who belong to Kotagarh, a village in the Himalayan region. The narrator depicts the life journey of Lispeth from childhood to adulthood. The story is told from a third-person point of view. Her parents get lost in the maize crop, and their opium poppy field is damaged by two bears. So in the next season, they convert to Christianity, and her daughter is baptised.

The Kotgarh Chaplain christened her Elizabeth, and ‘Lispeth’ is the Hill or Pahari pronunciation.

The narrator gives a vivid description of Lispeth's beauty. She is tall, ivory-coloured, like Diana of the Romans, and has grown beautifully as a princess in fairytales. The chaplain's wife wants Lispeth to join a nursing course, but Lispeth doesn't show interest. Lispeth goes for a long walk and returns home in the evening, breathing heavily and carrying an unconscious Englishman on her shoulders.

Lispeth falls in love at first sight with the Englishman, who hurts himself, and declares that she will marry him after his recovery from illness.

The narrator says falling in love at first sight is an uncivilised thing, and it takes a great deal of Christianity to wipe out eastern instincts.

." It takes a great deal of Christianity to wipe out uncivilised Eastern instincts, such as falling in love at first sight."

Lispeth nurses him till he recovers, and he thanks everyone, especially Lispeth, for her kindness.

The chaplain's wife speaks to the Englishman about Lispeth's love, but he makes it clear that he is already engaged to a girl at home. Lispeth has not hidden her feelings towards him and goes to Narkanda along with him to bid farewell. On the advice of the chaplain's wife, he promises Lispeth that he will come back to marry her. As the months pass, Lispeth feels miserable. The chaplain's wife tells her the truth: the English man would never come back, and he has made a promise to Lispeth on her request.

Lispeth takes the chaplain's wife's lying too seriously and dresses in the clothes of hill women. She goes back to her own people, marries a woodcutter and a wife beater, and her beauty fades soon. She dies of old age.

‘I am going back to my own people,’ said she. ‘You have killed Lispeth. There is only one left of old Jadéh's daughter—the daughter of a pabari and the servant of Tarka Devi. You are all liars, you English.’

Lispeth used to tell her about her first love affair when she was drunk.

Lispeth could not tolerate the chaplain wife's falsehood, as the basic principles of Christianity are love and trust. Though the chaplain's wife lied in the interest of Lispeth, she felt deceived. She couldn't digest the duality of Christianity and its preachers.

Major themes are religious conflict, class conflict, love, religious conversions, the superiority of English, East and West relationships, and colonialism.
